Hi everyone,

Here is the final instalment in my Easy Peasy Flower trilogy! And its all about turning these little flowers into squares.

I will be using the 8 petal flower for this square. You can find the links to make these flowers below.

US Abbreviations                                                      

ch-sp – chain space

sl-st – slip stitch

sc- single crochet

hdc – half double crochet

dc – double crochet

tr – treble crochet

Materials

Pattern & Tutorial

Make an 8 petal flower.

Round 1

Make a slip knot. Sl-st into the 4 st (middle tr) of any petal. (Ch 7 and sl-st into the top of the 4 st of the next petal) 7 times. Ch 7 and sl-st in the same st as the starting sl-st. (Total 8 7 ch-sp)

Round 2

Sl-st in the first 7 ch-sp. Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), then make (5 dcs, ch 2, 6 dc) in the same ch-sp. [Make 6 hdc in the next 7 ch-sp. Make (6 dc, ch 2, 6 dc) in the next 7ch-sp] repeat 3 times. Make 6 hdc in the last 7ch-sp and sl-st to the top of the first ch 3. I like to start a new round in the ch-sp as this makes the joining less visible. So for that, sl-st in the next 5 sts and in the ch-sp, making a total of 6 sl-st. (Total of 48 dcs, 24 hdcs & 4 2ch-sp)

Round 3

Ch 3 in the ch-sp, then make (1 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the same ch-sp. [Make 1 dc in the next 18 sticthes, then (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the next ch-sp] repeat 3 times. Then make 18 dcs in the next 18 stitches and join with a sl-st to the top of the first ch 3. (Total of 88 dcs and 4 2ch-sp)

Round 4

Ch 1 in same st as the sl-st. Then make 1 sc in the next st. Make (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in the ch-sp. [Make 1 sc in each of the next 22 sts. Make (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in the next ch-sp] repeat 3 times. Now, make 1 sc in each of the next 20 sts. To make the last sc I did an invisible join, thus creating a stitch on top of the ch 1 made at the start of the round. (Total of 104 scs and 4 2ch-sp)

I have tried to show you in the pics below how I achieved the final st by doing an invisible join.

And here is the finished square getting into shape on the blocking board.

Now I am still debating whether to turn my small pile of squares into a cushion cover or keep making till I have enough for a throw.
